Bad Manners in Eating
What is considered "bad manners" in eating is sometimes
different in Japan and the United States. In Japan, it is bad
manners to walk on the street with eating anything. In the
United States, you may eat certain foods, such as chocolate, ice
cream cones, or hot dogs, while you are walking on the street.
It is considered bad manners to talk with the food in the mouth.
If someone talks to you while you have food in the mouth, you
should say, "Excuse me," and after you finish chewing, you can
answer them. Making noise during the meal is rude, too.
People need to know what is considered bad manners before
they eat with people of different cultures.
