Four Academic Courses
Integration of knowledge across disciplines
opens up a new frontier of research
Solving complex issues of the contemporary society requires the establishment of a new methodology that organically combines the traditionally segmented academic disciplines and allows multidimensional and comprehensive assessment. The subject of research at the Faculty of Culture and Information Science is culture as the representation of humans’ mental and intellectual activities. We strive to create new knowledge through the approach using data science instead of conventional methodologies. We put emphasis on the four fields of Cultural Resources Studies, Linguistic Data Science, Behavioral Data Science, and Fundamental Data Science which is the basis of these scientific inquiries, and pursue interdisciplinary education and research with the collaboration of each of these courses.
Constructing a new framework of cultural studies by synthesizing fragmented and diverse information on cultural resources
Developing a new field of linguistic research based on advanced data analysis and computational science
Considering human behavioral patterns as culture and analyzing and estimating them based on quantitative data
